The day of Arafah

The day of 'Arafah is a grand day known for its significance and virtues. Aside being among the best days of the year, Allah perfected Islam for us, and completed His favour upon us on the day of 'Arafah (Q5:3).

Also this day is significant because Allah swore by it in Suratul Burooj and it is a known fact that whatever Allah swear with is important.

"By the sky containing great stars. And (by)the promised Day. And [by] the witness and what is witnessed" (Q85: 1-3) 

It was reported from Abu Hurayrah (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said:

"The promised day is the Day of Resurrection, the witnessed day is the Day of ‘Arafah, and the witnessing day is Friday." (Tirmidhi).

Therefore, we should strive to make the best use of this day in order earn more rewards for it is among the days which Allah (swt) has blessed us with opportunities to multiply our rewards through His infinite mercy.

 The Prophet (PBUH)said,

"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these (ten) days". [Abu Dawud].

Here are recommended Ibaadats that can be done on the day of Arafah.







Fasting on the day of 'Arafah is a highly recommended act for non pilgrims, it expiates the sins of two years.

 It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Prophet (PBUH)was asked about fasting on the day of 'Arafah and he replied:

" It expiates for the past and coming years."

So, we are enjoined to fast on this day to attain the reward.


We should keep our mouths moist with remembrance of Allah, supplicating to Him and seeking His forgiveness for this day is a day forgiveness, which Allah frees souls from hell fire.

The Prophet (PBUH) said,

"The most excellent dua is the dua on the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the prophets before me have said, is "There is nothing that deserves to be worshiped in truth except Allah, He is Alone and has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is All-Powerful over all things.

 Laa 'ilaaha 'illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu,  wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in Qadeer.

Sodaqoh (charity)

Give charity to seek the pleasure of Allah and be generous and kind to people around you, a smile, helping hand e.t.c are charity even when you have no money or possession to give out.


The day of Arafah is a day we must all strive to please our Lord in order to earn great reward and be more closer to Him.
